01 — Our Story

Two fourth-graders.
One camp. Decades apart.

Camp Akita is where James grew up. Nine summers, fourth grade through twelfth. The trails, the fire, the stillness — this place shaped him in ways that stuck.

Kari was here once too. Fourth grade. Neither of them knew.

"Akita means Searcher.
The searching is over."

We're getting married here because this place has always been part of the story — we just didn't know it yet.

On September 19, 2027, we're coming back. We hope you'll come with us.

04 — Getting There & Staying

Camp Akita.
Logan, Ohio.

We've reserved four private Hocking Hills-style cabins on-site — Tail Feather, Sky Valley, Dogwood, and Cabin in the Glen. Between them, there are 35 beds available for guests who want to stay the full weekend.

Here's what that means: if you're one of the first 35 to RSVP as a weekend guest, your lodging and all meals Friday through Sunday are covered. Breakfast, lunch, dinner — all served in the Camp Akita Dining Hall, buffet style. You just show up.

Beds go in the order RSVPs come in. If you're not staying on-site, you're still welcome Saturday for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing — hotels in Logan and Athens are 20–40 minutes away.

07 — Questions

Good things
to know.

What should I wear?
Come as you please — we're not enforcing a dress code. That said, we're getting married, so we encourage you to look nice. Think smart casual to dressed up. You'll also be outdoors in the Hocking Hills in September, so layers are smart.
What time should I arrive Friday?
Camp opens to us at 3pm. We'd suggest arriving around 5pm — time to settle in, find your cabin, and ease into the weekend before the fire.
What time is checkout Sunday?
Noon. Take your time with breakfast, say your goodbyes slowly, and drive safe.
Where do I park?
There's a large gravel lot on-site — you won't miss it. If it fills up, pull along the side of the entry road. Everything is within easy walking distance from there.
Is the 5K mandatory?
Not at all — but we encourage it. All paces welcome. Show up, move through the hills, and earn your breakfast. It's one of the best parts of the weekend.
Can I bring kids?
Yes. Camp Akita is a great environment for kids — lots of space to roam, a lake, trails, and a fire. Just know it's a full weekend with some late nights, so plan accordingly.
What's the cell service like?
Spotty. Some carriers will have some signal, others won't. Consider it a feature — you're in the hills for a weekend. Download anything you need before you arrive.
I have dietary restrictions — will there be food for me?
Camp Akita can accommodate dietary needs. When you RSVP, note any restrictions and we'll make sure they're communicated to the kitchen ahead of time.
What if it rains?
The Dining Hall is our backup for outdoor activities. Camp Akita is well set up for a rainy day — bring a layers, embrace it. BYO board games are encouraged.
Is alcohol provided?
Alcohol is not provided. You're welcome to BYOB.
